The Church of St John the Baptist Woking St
John's is the Church of England parish church for this part of Woking,
in the Diocese of Guildford. We're also members of the Evangelical
Alliance: we try to base what we believe and do on the Bible, and help
people find a living faith in Jesus Christ. We hope people of all
backgrounds and traditions will find a warm welcome here.
We try
to provide a variety of services in styles to suit different tastes,
from the formal and traditional through to more modern and
youth-orientated worship.
We have a strong commitment to
children and young people, and there are clubs, groups and activities
for children from crèche to teenagers and beyond, and we have strong
links with our local schools.
We're very fortunate in having a
beautiful and flexible building. designed by the famous Victorian
architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, it was built in 1842, and modified
at various stages since.
The parish takes in St John's village,
St John's Road, the Inkerman and Hermitage estates and Hook Heath. The
Saunders Lane area of Mayford is served by Emmanuel Church, our
daughter church in the St John's parish. | Sunday Services 8.00am Holy Communion from the 1662 Prayer Book 10.00am Morning
Service with Sunday School, followed by coffee at the back of the
church. A crèche is available for children under 3 years old.
On
the second Sunday of each month, the service is Holy Communion. There
are several Sunday School groups for ages 3-17; the children start in
church and leave part way through the service.
